POLISHED PERSONAS

The personas represented here are based almost entirely on the research we completed. From the research, we noticed that there were two very distinct types of mentors that we needed to keep in mind: Older, more experienced mentors, vs younger, less experienced mentors. There was also a slight distinction in that some mentors are mentors as their occupation (advisors, counselors), while some are mentors side, such as a manager mentoring an intern, or someone who is skilled in the industry who had a college student reach out asking for a mentoring relationship.

The goal of these personas was to embody the research into a believable person, so we can keep in mind and refer back to who we are designing for. Creating these personas provided us insight into functions that we need to include within the application to tackle issues that mentors experience troubles with.

Lynda represents someone who has a lot of concrete knowledge both in her career as a high-ranking executive and as a mentor. She is busy as she holds a stressful and time-consuming position at her company, but she wants to use the knowledge she has to help a younger person grow in their career. It is also important to Lynda that she makes clear goals for her mentee to set out and achieve, and she wants to make sure that mentee feels that the steps that are taken are meaningful

Andy is a student mentor who is mentoring younger students who are new to his University. He finds it difficult to find common times that he and his mentees can meet, and he struggles to make the meeting feel productive. He also has a lot of young mentees, so he struggles to remember what each one is working on, so a lot of time is wasted in meetings to relearn about each mentee.
